History of Amplify Innovations

Amplify Innovations (AI) has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. I've always had a unique ability to find simple solutions to everyday problems, and my passion is finding practical solutions that make innovation feasible.

I was the kid who loved taking things apart to see how they worked. I learned about them, tweaked them, and then put them back together—an engineer in the making.

Working through high school, I found myself diving deep into the music field. Everything about music intrigued me. I found a passion for instrument designs, sounds reinforcement, and the audio equipment needed to put on a great performance. It became a sweet escape for me. I went on to study at the Fine Arts Center in Greenville, SC for Guitar and Music Performance during my senior year of high school.

Even as a teen, work was always important to me. I loved interacting with and assisting customers in my retail days and learning negotiating tactics along the way. Business development became a desire of mine on many levels.

College was not a social time for me. It was a time of dedication and determination. I worked 40+ hours a week for an Audio/Video company doing installations while attending engineering school full time. I did not realize this "get through college" job built the tools and passion that would propel me into my future career. I fell in love with the CEDIA industry and was determined to meld my Electronics Engineering degree and the knowledge I gained as an installer to build better products that were easier to install.

The events of September 11, 2001, took place the week before I graduated with my engineering degree, and the international job I had lined up became too dangerous to pursue. I opened a consulting company and worked with a local Audio Video company in my hometown, doing project management and programming for integrators in the CEDIA and InfoComm industry. This led to system design work and, ultimately, a full-time job.

After marrying my bride in 2003, I accepted a position with ELAN Home Systems as an Application Engineer and Trainer based in Orlando, FL. This role was my steppingstone into the engineering and development side of the electronics industry. I did hundreds of technical training classes across the Southeast region of the United States and worked with dealers to help them design solutions for complex projects. Two years later, I was promoted to my first product development position at ELAN's headquarters in Lexington, KY. This is where my childhood dreams intersected with my professional career. My job was finding solutions to problems and designing new products. I secured my first US patent and helped architect an automation control platform that ELAN still leverages today.

After six years with ELAN, I accepted a new position with SnapAV (Snap One), a startup company in Charlotte, NC. I was hired to build a product development group, and over the next ten years, helped grow Snap One from $17 million in revenue to over $500+ million and an industry leader. I wore many hats over those ten years and built multiple teams, including engineering, product design, testing labs, quality control, tech support, product management, and software development.

In 2019, I decided to leave Snap One to launch Amplify Innovations and develop an amplifier product line that allows integrators to leverage in-room voice assistants (the WAKE Amp). Snap One was very interested in the WAKE Amp product line and purchased exclusive rights to the product at the end of 2020. In November of 2020, I returned to Snap One full-time as the EVP of Engineering and Technology, where I have the privilege of leading a high-performance team of 250+ Engineers and Technologists worldwide.

I am always looking for ways to expand my network with local and industry professionals, so please feel free to connect with me through e-mail or LinkedIn.

Sincerely,

David G. Moore | President
